Kevin is a captain in the army. He thinks that no woman will be able to live the military life. He refuses to be in a major commitment because of that. He never knew that a conversation with a beautiful girl would lead him to falling in love and thinking of getting married.
Valarie is an army daughter. All she has ever known is the life in the army. She has always vowed to stay away from army men. She is also studying to be a doctor so she thinks she has no time to fall in love. She never thought that meeting one man would change her outlook on love.
Since Kevin and Valarie met, they have always been flirty with each other. They agreed to be friends and get to know each other. They also felt the sexual tension that was always increasing between them every time they saw each other. They just never did anything about it. Kevin decided to try and change things by asking her about a mini vacation. Valarie agreed but that was when, as all military men know, a mission came up.
By the end of the book will Valarie realize that she is in love with Kevin? Will Kevin believe there is a future for them with his career? How will these two handle the future?
I really liked reading this book. It had all the elements in it. It even had a nice ending to it. The author definitely got her point across. Being in love means taking the person for who they are and loving them for it.
I am seriously considering reading other books by this author. Her writing makes you fall in love with her characters and their problems. If you like this author or are looking for a short-story to read, this book is for you.
Growing up the proverbial military brat, Valerie Standish has shed her old ways. Yet, she’s been around long enough to recognize that familiar arrogance when Kevin Morgan walks through the door. This time she is drawn to the persistent captain like she hasn’t been to any man before, making it harder to keep her promise—never get involved with an officer.
Kevin doesn’t have a problem with her unwillingness to commit long term. He isn’t quite ready to settle either. For years, he’s worked hard to earn a promotion to Major. He wants one last fling before tying himself to a wife for the rest of his life.
But time proves them both liars as they begin to fall for each other. Neither is prepared for the ache of betrayal as they come face to face with the truth about one another.
Will either of them be able to walk away unscathed or have the trenches of love already been dug?
