Monica is born and bred from a small town. She always knew that she would stay in the town and own her flower shop as long as she could. She is the type of person who likes to put others' happiness above her own. She has even done protests for things that she strongly believes in. However, she never thought that a stranger coming to her little town would turn her world upside down.
Travis is a secret service agent in town to scope out the president’s son’s wedding. He always thought that his job was everything to hm. It was always first in his life therefore he had no time for a personal life. Being an ex-military man, he also takes the job of protecting people seriously. He just never thought that by doing his job he would meet someone who would change his way of thinking. He did not think that for once in his life he would change how he thinks about his job and his life.
Throughout the book both Monica and Travis try to avoid each other and just go about their everyday jobs and lives. Since Monica knows just about everyone in her town Travis goes to her to help him get a feel for the town and its people. Monica doesn’t really mind because the more she's with him, the more attracted she gets to him.
Since they both know that Travis is going to leave once his job is over they decide to act on their attraction for each other knowing that it is just a fling. But the more they're together, the more they're attracted to each other and the more they fall in love with each other. The major issue is that he would still be leaving after the week is out.
By the end of the book Travis realizes that Monica means more to him then his job does. He admits to himself and to her that he has fallen in love with her and can't do the whole long-distance relationship thing. Monica admits that she loves him and wants to be with him any way that she can. So Travis leaves to change his job description and promises to come back. Monica promises to wait.
I adored reading this book. It made me feel that love can come to you when you least expect it or even not want it. The author has a way of making you feel sympathetic for her characters. She is an amazing writer and I cannot wait to read more.
