Normally I do not like it when authors stray from writing the novels that I love and with Haymore I tend to love almost all of her historical novels. So when I found out that she had written a new New Adult series I was a little skeptical about reviewing it for this sole purpose. I was almost biting my nails when I started reading Swept Away and by the time I finished it I knew immediately that I had to give the author two thumbs up!
Only one author could have pulled this series off and convinced me that I made the right choice in selecting this novella for review and that was Haymore! I cannot get over how this novella is penned and that is the reason why I am rating this novella so high. Haymore wrote not only a worthy novella filled with darkness, sin and lust but she nailed it!
It was nice to see Haymore break away from her more traditional writing even if I love her other novels and she hardly ever disappoints. It's nice to see something different on the market, even if it isn't my usual style of reading. I think this novella is worth the time to read it.
I think it's important to keep in mind that this story is very intense and very sensual in nature. So it is not for the reader that is uncomfortable with reading more Erotica material because that is what you will discover within the pages. There is hot sex and a hero that will make you remember as to why you fell in love with bad boys to begin with!
There is one flaw that I did find about this novella and that is how fast paced it is. I had a little trouble keeping up with all of the quicker scenes and the secondary characters. So I do wish that these would have been slowed because it's somewhat difficult to keep up with. As the reader you have to really focus on what is happening otherwise you may find yourself lost.
As for continuing this series, I think I am going to go ahead with reviewing the second part to see where it leads.
He is everywhere. He surrounds me, wends his way under my skin. I can’t escape his strength, his intensity, his presence.
There’s nowhere to run.
Nowhere to hide.
But even if I could escape...would I be strong enough to leave?
I needed something—something big—to get myself out of the rut I’d fallen into after the car accident that killed my sister. This sailing trip was meant only to mark a new chapter in my life. Until Ethan Williams stepped on board.
Ethan radiated confidence. His darkly handsome good looks and ocean-blue eyes mesmerized me. But it was the way he looked at me that drew me in. He wasn’t looking at my past or at my scars, but the real me behind all that baggage I was trying so hard to leave behind.
But Ethan had secrets—dark, dangerous secrets. I was trapped in the middle of the ocean in a tangle of lies, sex, and violence. The problem was, I was happy to be trapped forever...if it meant I could have him.
Warning: Swept Away is a 4-part serial. This story is messy and twisted and very, very sexy. It is not for people under 18.
