Darkest Flame: Part 2 of 4

A Dark Kings Novel

I am far more pleased with Darkest Flame Part Two than I was with the first part of this installment series. It completely aided in summarizing more from the first part and I didn't feel so much like I was missing out on the more in depth details as I originally thought from part one.

Overall I was greatly pleased by the second part. The chemistry heated up and I didn't find it to be as light weight as I did in part one. There was much more heat, though I do not think as a reader you should feel uncomfortable in reading the content. The romance was there as well and far easier to locate than in the first part. So I credit Grant for stepping up for the second part of her series and actually convincing me that both Kellan and Denae belonged together, because I certainly had my doubts.

I would still like to have seen more of the paranormal aspect in part two. I cannot help but feel like it is still missing in action in most of the scenes. I also wanted Grant to go even darker even though more of the nature of the dragon was there for me than I previous thought. I would like to have further explored the behaviors of Kellan.

Deane, for me only grows stronger in her own nature in the second part. I found her to be relatable to myself as a reader and I did not have to play the guessing game with her character as I did with Kellan. I favored her natural behavior and she is believable in her quest for loving Kellan. If anything I think I understood more of the darkest flames series within the second part.

It's imperative to read this series in the exact order otherwise as a reader you will find yourself lost as Grant's plot unfolds with each installment. Also, I think it is a good idea to keep an open mind when reading a dragon shapeshifting novel for the first time. The installments as in this case do tend to be different than other paranormal material.

In the end park two of the Darkest Flames series lived up to my exceptions and helped me grow in my liking of the series as more became understood.
