A New Leash on Love

Rescue Me, #1

Lately, I have been loving the trend of a more casual, lighter romances that have been gracing the industry. "A New Leash on Love", is yet another wonderful example of a very sweet and fun romance read that took me by surprise by the amount of love that I was able to have with this novel.

This story itself is definitely a read for animal lovers alike. Megan, the heroine works hard in rescuing pups that are in need of homes. I loved Megan's dedication to the pups because as an animal rescue volunteer myself I could personally relate to Megan's own involvement. Megan was able to find an HEA-ending with Craig, the hero through the surrendering of his daughter's puppy. At first, I was wondering how this story was going to interact, but this story does contain an amount of loss and the reasoning behind Craig's choice to surrender the pup is truly heartwarming.

As for the romance in this story, it is very dialed back. The heat level is lower but still very much present throughout most of the book. The sensual scenes are also not as heated which I took as a relief from all the explicit material that has been published as of late. The chemistry between Megan and Craig did take some time to get started but I enjoyed the low key attraction.

I really loved the heart of this story. It many ways this story is about the second chances, finding love and accepting that at times life has other plans for us. I would highly suggest reading this novel. It was a wonderful read and I am very much looking forward to the continuation of this series.
