In The Kingdom's Name

Guardian of Scotland, #2

Calling all fans of historical romance, time-travel romance, Sottish romance....I cannot express to you enough how much you need to read this Guardian of Scotland series! Amy Jarecki's descriptive writing, once again, had me feeling as if I was the one who time-traveled back to 13th and 14th century Scotland. It was almost as if I was seeing everything with my own eyes.

In this book you will find the continuation and completion of Eva and William's story. A love story that transcends the sands of time with an unbreakable bond that remains in tact no matter how long they are separated. Finding parts of the story to talk about that won't give away any major spoilers is going to be difficult but here I go.

One thing that I do want to mention that hopefully isn't too much of a spoiler is the fact that during the entire story I kept wanting Eva to take William back to her time so that he won't have to endure his fate and just live with her happily ever after. However, in the author's note Amy Jarecki tells us the reason that did not happen was because she would have felt as if she were “cheating history” if she had wrote that into the story and now that I have finished the book, I wholeheartedly agree with her. I loved the way it played out. I couldn't have asked for a better ending.

The chapter from William's point of view was just amazing! I could feel how honorable a man this character was when reading it, just like the real William Wallace who is remembered for his heroism. His chapter made me see how truly harsh his punishment was. His only crime was fighting for his country against a sadistic English ruler. This section of the book rivals with the ending of chapter twenty-five because I cannot choose which one I liked more.

The last couple of chapters had me all tore up. The excitement was almost too much to handle while waiting to see how things would play out for Eva. I couldn't rate this book with anything less than five stars. I completely adored it!
