Beauty and the Butch

Lindsey Mitchell, a reality TV producer, rolls her eyes at searching for a topic of substance at the elite Miss Georgia National Beauty Pageant. She’s been seeking her big break to start producing documentaries and exciting news stories and her executive producer is giving her an opportunity to prove herself. Lindsey and her filming partner Maurice will spend their stay filming three beauty queens throughout the pageant.

After the preliminary interviews one beauty queen catches Lindsey’s attention. Ella Northington is the primped and polished daughter of a politician and brings some fierce competition to the pageant. In search of a story Lindsey follows Ella to a secret location which turns out to be none other than a lesbian bar! Although initially shocked at the discovery, Lindsey approaches Ella and the two begin a steamy, secretive tryst.

However, secrets have their way of becoming known and the two girls will have to battle their feelings and the ruthless stiletto-ed beauty queens.

This was an intriguing and well-written novella that had an endearing storyline. The plot is fast and action-packed and once the reader starts this book they will not be able to put it down! The characters were also extremely likable and easy to relate to. Ella is the classic closeted woman on the wake of her sexual awakening while Lindsey is there to show her the ropes.

As female relationships in novels become more popular, unfortunately the butch-femme dynamic is becoming a rarity. I loved this novel since it returns us to the “classic” partnership of the butch and femme lesbian. The author does an excellent job of capturing this essence and dynamic of a butch woman. She’s the alpha female and always in control. She is blunt and out there with her sexuality and looking for a pretty woman to hang on her arm. But, behind closed doors she is just as soft and sensual as the femmes she brings home. She is a butch woman.

Book Blurb for Beauty and the Butch

The last thing up-and-coming TV producer Lindsey Mitchell expects to find at an ultra-girly beauty pageant is true love. After all, she’s unapologetically butch and that’s unlikely to appeal to the primped-and-powdered Southern belles vying for the title of Miss Georgia National.

Ella Northington is the perfectly poised contestant who’s hiding a big secret—she’s a lesbian. But Lindsey’s just too tempting to resist and what’s supposed to be a one-night stand quickly turns into something more. The lovers are determined to touch and taste every inch of each other.

But the stakes are high and competition is fierce. And if Ella is outed, she risks losing everything she holds dear, including her sexy butch lover.
