Snake Eyes

Honey King is a hoarder who has collected everything from Cabbage Patch Dolls to Yugio Cards. Not only that, she usually buys multiple copies of whatever she collects.

Her son, River, is worried because she has become very secretive about her latest 'collection' and he has a feeling that she may be in trouble.

He asks local police officers to check on her and finds out that he was right to be worried. For Honey's latest obsession are poisonous snakes. She was bitten by one of the deadlier snakes in her collection.

River finds help in the form of the local police, a zoologist who rounds up the snakes in Honey's apartment, and Colton Fanning, a therapist who specializes in hoarders.

Snake Eyes was, for me, a well written, albeit too short, story that shows readers a glimpse into the world of obsessive-compulsive collectors. Not only that, it is a story of love finding a place in the heart of two gently strong men and how they find their way to making it work together.

I liked both River and Colton immensely. River because of both his vulnerability and his innate levelheadedness, plus business acumen. And then Colton because he knows his weaknesses as well as his strengths. How the two of them worked their way around each other is, for me, a winner.

A great read that I would definitely recommend to other people.

Book Blurb for Snake Eyes

River King is worried about his mom, Honey. An obsessive-compulsive-collector, she's pounced on every questionable craze in pop culture history. She spent a fortune on now-worthless Cabbage Patch Dolls, Beanie Babies and Yugio Cards…you name it, she's got…in multiple copies. Her latest obsession however is so secretive he's got a bad feeling she's in trouble when he can't reach her. He's not wrong. After he asks the local cops in her Brooklyn, NY, suburb of Park Slope to make a routine welfare check on her, he is stunned to learn that Honey is unconscious. She's been bitten by a snake. And not just any snake.

How in the world did his mom happen to own an uturu pit viper? River soon learns his mom, whose life hangs in the balance, has been obsessively collecting deadly snakes and venomous lizards bought mostly online and in furtive flea market deals. With the aid of local cops, a zoologist and hunky 'hoarder' therapist, Colton Fanning, River soon learns that love, like snakes, can strike at any time…
