To Seduce a Sinner
The Legend of the Four Soldiers, Book 2
Melisande Fleming is used to being a wallflower. She never enjoyed the social whirl that was expected of females of the upper class. She had resigned herself to the role of spinster until the man she had loved from afar, Lord Vale, is jilted practically at the altar. She takes a chance and proposes marriage. Lord Vale accepts since he wasn’t in love with his previous fiancée, he just felt it was time to settle down and produce an heir. But a curious thing happens after the wedding. Vale discovers that his wife is every man’s dream; polite and proper when it is called for and a dream lover in the dark of night. Then he realizes that he is falling for his wife and wants to know all her secrets. What he didn’t bargain for is that he would have to reveal his own as well.
I loved this book!!!!! There isn’t a false note, misplaced word, or stilted turn of phrase. The characters of Melisande and Vale were introduced in the first book in this series, To Taste Temptation, which I also loved. But To Seduce a Sinner is perfect. I read it in a day because I couldn’t bear to put it down. There is an underlying mystery that is running throughout the series that just adds a little spice to the plot but doesn’t distract from the romance. Vale is a charming man on the surface but underneath is haunted by what he saw as a soldier. Melisande is a complex woman, keeping her true self hidden from the world. Ms. Hoyt is a masterful storyteller and this book cemented her place on my autobuy list. I will be waiting anxiously for the next book, To Beguile a Beauty.
