Skin Heat takes up where Skin Tight left off. Zeke is one of the people that escaped from the secret facility. They tortured and experimented on him, changed him. When he regained his freedom, all he wanted was to make sure that he was never imprisoned again. But he refuses to hide away on his farm not to mention he needs to make some money so he can survive. So he heads into town to get a job. But how do you get a job when you have lost the ability to read. Luckily his aunt is still around and willing to help him. She fills out the applications for him. But no one in town is willing to take a chance on him except Geneva Harper, the local vet. Zeke has had the hots for her since they were teenagers but knew she was out of his league. Neva is very attracted to him but she has a lot on her plate and really can’t take on anything else. Then someone starts killing girls that look a lot like Neva. Is it a coincidence or is the killer working his way up to the real thing?
WOW! Skin Heat is amazing; my favorite so far! Zeke will knock your socks off! Zeke is almost a beta hero. He is quiet but still waters run deep, deep into steamy territory. With his new abilities and his ability to read lost, it makes him vulnerable. That vulnerability is seriously attractive. Ms. Gray is brilliant at creating heroes that appear tough but scratch the surface and they need love almost more than the heroine does. Neva was another trademark Ava Gray heroine: smart and likeable. You want her to get her happily ever after. All of that would make for a great paranormal romance. But what takes it to the level of page turner is the suspense. For me, when we see things from the killer’s perspective, they are some of the creepiest pages I have read. The mystery of Zeke’s full abilities combined with the identity of the killer kept me guessing up until the very last. I was totally stunned as it all played out on the pages. As soon as I finished it, I wanted to read it all over again. With all the books waiting for me on my to-be-read-shelf, that is the best compliment I can give. Luckily, all those books will keep me busy until the next book; Skin Dive comes out in July 2011.
Veterinarian Geneva Harper finds herself irresistibly drawn to Zeke Noble, the mysterious young man to whom wild is second nature. When a killer threatens Neva, Zeke's need to protect her is as fierce as his desire to claim her as his mate.
