What would you do if you woke up one night to a man digging you out of a grave? What if the evil inside him compelled you to drain him of his life force before you could comprehend what you were doing? If you are Breezy, a teenager whose life was stolen from her, you go in search of answers. What happened to her, why is she awake and aware but not really alive? What is her purpose, will she always be alone? Her journey takes her to depths she never imagined and gives her a purpose that is a terrible burden.
I went into Shallow Graves without any expectations; the premise just sounded unique and a little bit morbid which is right up my alley. What an incredible story, I am still haunted by it! Breezy is an amazing character and I really hope to see her again. Her journey is heartbreaking and at the same time fascinating. There is so much that I could say about the plot and how events unfolded but I feel like it would give too much away. Shallow Graves is wonderfully done and I look forward to more tales from the talented Kali Wallace.
After waking in a shallow grave, Breezy, a high school senior, crosses the country seeking answers about her death and resurrection, discovering along the way a host of supernatural creatures, as well as a human cult determined to "free" them at any cost.
