A Novel of the Iron Seas, #5

What an amazing entry in the Iron Seas series. I never thought a main couple could take the place of Mina and the Iron Duke as my favorite, but Annika and David took me by storm. Annika is so loveable, especially her love of colorful clothing. She keeps the secret of where she comes from while searching for her sister. David is an amazing hero, so strong but so tender. I love a scarred hero! To me the mark of a wonderful story is if you strip away all the atmosphere of steampunk and such that the tale still moves you. Riveted has that in spades. Please don’t, however, discount the steampunk aspect; Ms. Brook is one of the best writers in this genre. I was literally unable to tear myself away from Riveted! Five stars for this amazing tale of love, adventure, family, and steam.

Annika signed on with an airship in order to find her sister. After all, it is her fault that her sister was exiled from their home. If she finds her, they can both finally return to their family. When explorer David Kentewess comes aboard the airship en route to a new expedition, Annika catches his attention. She wears a necklace similar to the one his mother wore. Searching for his mother’s home and past has long been his obsession and he pursues Annika, sure that she has the knowledge he seeks. But that is a secret that Annika cannot divulge no matter how attracted to David she is. When they are stranded together after an accident, they have to work together to survive. As they grow closer, will Annika take the chance that David is the man she thinks and reveal her secret?

Book Blurb for Riveted

The New York Times bestselling author of The Iron Duke and Heart of Steel returns to the Iron Seas with a riveting new adventure of steamy romance.

A century after a devastating volcanic eruption forced Iceland's inhabitants to abandon its shores, the island has become enshrouded in legend. But the truth behind the legends is mechanical, not magical--and the mystery of the island a matter of life and death for a community of women who once spilled noble blood to secure their freedom.

Five years ago, Annika unwittingly endangered that secret, but her sister Källa took the blame and was exiled. Now Annika serves on an airship, searching for her sister and longing to return home. But that home is threatened when scientific expedition leader David Kentewess comes aboard, looking to expose Annika's secrets. Then disaster strikes, leaving David and Annika stranded on a glacier and pursued by a madman, with their very survival depending on keeping the heat rising between them--and generating lots of steam...
