A call from Adam’s ex-wife comes when things are just settling down with the pack after the events in Frost Burned. Christy still has friends in the pack, a fact that has made it hard for Mercy to take her place as Adam’s mate. It makes it even harder when Christy has a stalker and asks to come “home”. Adam agrees, with Mercy’s understanding all the reasons why, but that doesn’t mean she is going to enjoy it. When Christy shows up, she starts a campaign to undermine Mercy. Things heat up when the stalker finds them. Will Mercy and Adam be able to weather the threat of Christy and the stalker?
I always knew that at a certain point, Adam’s ex-wife would show up like a bad penny and work her sugary poison on the pack. I just didn’t know how hard it would be to watch. Oh, don’t misunderstand, Night Broken is a wonderful entry in the Mercy Thompson series. I just dislike Christy that much. She is so unlikeable that I wanted someone to punch her every other second. Mercy plays it the best possible way she can, not like a woman but like a coyote. But that just wasn’t as satisfying as it could have been to, say give her to the stalker… Moving on, one of my favorite characters returns, Coyote. I just adore him, even though his brand of help is definitely a two sided coin. We also meet Gary who I really liked and I hope we see more of him. The bad guy was really unique, which is so typical of Ms. Briggs. She is always raising the bar in urban fantasy, in the best possible way. 4 and ½ stars for Night Broken by the talented Patricia Briggs!
#1 New York Times bestselling author Patricia Briggs’s Mercy Thompson series has been hailed as ?one of the best” (Fiction Vixen). Now, Mercy must deal with an unwanted guest?one that brings a threat unlike anything she’s ever known.
An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam’s ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from a stalker. Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.
Mercy isn’t about to step down without a fight, but there’s a more dangerous threat circling. Christy’s stalker is more than a bad man?in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.
