This is the fourth novel in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. If you haven't read any of these books, run to your nearest bookstore as they are not to be missed. But be advised, read them in order (Dark Lover, Lover Eternal, Lover Awakened, Lover Revealed) or you will be lost.
I eagerly awaited this novel and Ms. Ward did not disappoint. Her love scenes are powerful; sexy. Her dialogue is gritty and real. She is able to convey such emotion with her stories. In every one of her novels, I have been moved to tears. I finished these four hundred fifty-five pages in roughly thirty-six hours. I stopped quite often in order to prolong my visit in the world of the Brotherhood. When I finished, I broke my cardinal rule and read the preview for Lover Unbound, the next book in the series. I will be waiting, impatiently, for it's release.
This series is an automatic buy and keep for me. I literally fall in love with each of these males. They are each unique in looks and personality. I urge anyone who enjoys action, sexy males, strong females, and a compelling world to pick up the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood is a group of warrior vampires bred to fight their race's enemy, the lessers. This race of vampires is not your garden variety bloodsuckers. They can only live off the blood of their own kind and the opposite sex. They live in our world but are unknown to humans. While the warriors of the Brotherhood are the strongest and most powerful of their race, they all have weaknesses, which make them that much more appealing.
In this installment, the focus is on Butch O'Neal, the only human to live alongside the Brothers. In a previous novel, Butch met Marissa, a vampire aristocract, and was completely enchanted with her. An assassination attempt by her brother on the king of the vampires was just the beginning of the forces that kept them apart until now. Butch is gravely injured while rescuing a civilian vampire. He is found by the Brothers and taken to Marissa's brother, the local vampire doctor, for treatment. This throws Butch and Marissa together and they start to reveal how they really feel. Their story doesn't even begin to run smooth from here. Both have to deal with their isolation, unworthiness, and frailty.
