Kiss of Fury
The Dragonfire Novels Book 2
This is the second book in the Dragonfire series. In this one, the firestorm has come to Donovan Shea. One of the younger dragons, he doesn’t welcome the firestorm for several reasons. His fated mate is Alex Madison, a scientist working on a project called the Green Machine. The Green Machine is a car that runs on salt water that produces no harmful emissions and is entirely eco-friendly. This puts her at the top of the Slayers’ hit list. The Slayers in dragon form found her hidden lab, tortured and killed her partner, and destroyed her work. This left her afraid to trust anyone, especially a man who can shape shift into a dragon as well. But when Donovan saves her and protects her from other dragons she figures out pretty quick that maybe not all dragons are out to get her. Will Donovan and the other Pyr be able to help her rebuild her machine in time to meet with a possible investor?
I really enjoyed this second foray into the world of the Pyr. So many times, it seems authors reuse the same formula in a series for the hero and heroine to get together. Ms. Cooke, however, does a wonderful job of changing things up for the second couple to experience the firestorm. Both Donovan and Alex have their reasons for not wanting to commit to each other and they are very valid reasons, which is also refreshing. The Pyr, for all their immortality and power are not all knowing and all seeing which I liked. It makes the characters seem more real to me because they have flaws. I also found it so wonderful that instead of just telling us that Alex is very smart, she reacts to situations the way you would expect her to. You can’t go wrong with picking up this series. Up next is Kiss of Fate staring the leader of the Pyr, Erik. I can’t wait to dive into this one.

One act of passion can save the world…
Scientist Alexandra Madison was on the verge of unveiling an invention that would change the world. Then her partner was murdered, their lab was burned, and their prototype was destroyed. While Alex is in the hospital recovering from burns suffered in the fire, recurring dragon-haunted nightmares threaten to land her in the psychiatric ward, but she knows she has to escape to her lab to rebuild the Green Machine.
Handsome, daring, and impulsive, Donovan Shea is more than willing to do his part in the Pyr/Slayer war. Assigned to protect Alex, Donovan is shocked when her presence ignites his firestorm. He has no desire for a destined mate, but Alex’s intelligence and determination inspire him to join the fight to save her invention. With the Slayers closing in, Donovan knows he would surrender his life for Alex…and lose his heart to possess her.
