Suddenly, her trip home takes on the weight of sorrow and responsibility. When she arrives in Druida, Del finds her HeartMate and he is quite different from her. Raz Cherry is a famous actor with a career to think about. He has no interest in finding his HeartMate until far off in the future, if ever. When he meets Del, he is attracted physically as well as mentally. Will he choose to bond with Del even if it means giving up his dream or causing her to give up hers?
It is no secret that I love Ms. Owens’ Heart series. They are a wonderful piece of fantasy, science fiction, romance, and a dash of mystery. Whenever I pick up one of her books, I am transported to a place that is fantastical but still grounded in reality. It makes for a very absorbing story. Heart Journey is no different, a delight to read. I loved seeing more of the planet Celta. Seeing how wild and unsettled, how dangerous and uncertain life is firsthand was exhilarating and intriguing. I really liked the heroine, Del D’Elecampane and that she was older than her HeartMate. She is so confident, in herself and the course of her life that it doesn’t even cross her mind that her mate might be different from her and not desire a life on the road. Her family’s death causes her to re-evaluate her future and figure out what path she wants to take. Raz seems self absorbed and shallow, at first, but his depths are slowly revealed. The strange break ins of his apartment and his dressing room helps him reconnect with his family and examine what he really wants out of his life and career. For all their faults I really liked these characters. I feel that believable emotions and reactions from the main characters are vital and Ms. Owens never disappoints! Both Del and Raz had some growing up and soul searching to do before they can find their happy ending. If you love romance and adventure then I highly recommend you set your sights on the Heart series!
