I have looked forward to this installment in the Goddess series by P.C Cast. But it was worth the wait as I devoured it in one sitting, even with a three year old.
We meet the goddess Venus who in a fit of restlessness visits Tulsa, Oklahoma. Venus finds herself compelled by a spell to help a mortal, Pea Chamberlain, attain happiness and ecstasy. Meanwhile, the god Vulcan has become weary of the isolated immortal life he leads. He watches Venus and becomes fascinated with Pea. Will Pea find happiness with her mortal neighbor, Griffin, or will her soul be drawn to an immortal love?
Pea really touched my heart. She was so sweet and kind. She deserved to be noticed but it rarely happened. Venus was surprisingly caring and empathetic for such a gorgeous goddess. She was genuinely pleased to help Pea realize what a beautiful person she is. The love scenes were wonderfully done with passion and sizzle. I was so sad to see the end of this story but wonderfully satisfied by the happily ever after. Please, Ms. Cast, hurry and write more!!
With "humor and verve," (Publishers Weekly) Cast tells the story of the mythical Venus who comes to life to help a nerdy woman find her inner goddess.
Pea Chamberlain needs a makeover-shoes, hair, clothes, make-up-if she wants to attract an Ybersexy fireman. And who could better coax Pea out of her pod than the Goddess of Love, whom she invokes in a moment of desperation?
Venus works her magic on Pea, but who will help her when she falls for that same sexy fireman? Could Venus need a love makeover for herself? Check out the five-alarm heat when the Goddess of Love unexpectedly loses her heart.
