It was such a joy to step back into Mercy’s world for the seventh time. I never have to worry when I sit down with a book by Patricia Briggs. She has created some of the best characters in urban fantasy today. I have watched them evolve but at the core, are still the people that I have come to know and love. Mercy taps into her Coyote powers to a delightful degree. She doesn’t hesitate to jump into the fray when the people she loves are in danger. Adam is so wonderfully alpha and finally loses his incredible control. Tad makes an appearance along with Zee, which was awesome. I have to admit Zee is one of my favorite secondary characters. The potential for this series continues to grow exponentially and I can’t wait to see what Mercy gets into next. 4 and ½ stars for the lovely Frost Burned.
Frost Burned picks up where River Marked left off. Mercy and Jesse are out shopping on Black Friday when an innocent question from her stepdaughter throws Mercy for a loop. That combined with heavy traffic and a feeling of dread cause Mercy to crash her beloved VW Rabbit. As the shock wears off from the accident, Mercy realizes that something is wrong with Adam and the pack. Someone has orchestrated a masterful plot and kidnapped the entire pack. On her own, Mercy needs to make sure Jesse is safe and save her pack. Mercy will stop at nothing to see her people safe.
Mercy Thompson returns in the seventh novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.
Mercy Thompson’s life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman?the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack?has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more?
After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam?or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They’ve all been abducted.
Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related?and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.
