Biting Cold

A Chicagoland Vampires Novel

Biting Cold is a pivotal book in the Chicagoland Vampires series. As always, I never know where Ms. Neill is going to go at the start of each book but I know I am going to enjoy the journey. This book, as the previous ones in the series, had me holding my breath in fear and anticipation. Merit and Ethan are traveling to Nebraska to stop Mallory. Mallory is in the throes of her addiction to black magic. Ms. Neill portrays this addiction so accurately, my chest hurt for everyone involved. There are going to be no easy fixes for this problem. Mallory did so much damage and she has a lot to atone for. Ethan and Merit are back together but I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. I won’t reveal if it did drop, you will just have to read it for yourself. Some wonderful new creatures came out to play and an old one finally revealed his secrets. Those secrets bring trouble to town in a big way and Merit does what she does best. Looking to the future of Cadogan and Merit, big changes are on the horizon and I wouldn’t miss it for the world, 4 and ½ stars for Biting Cold!

Merit is facing her worst nightmare, going out to stop her former best friend before it is too late. Mallory has succumbed to the allure of black magic, casting spells that have wreaked havoc in the city. She took her evil plan on the road, hoping to regain an ancient book of magic that allowed her to raise Ethan from the dead. Another supernatural creature is hoping to use the book as well and it isn’t going to be pretty. Much as Merit hates what Mallory has become, she can’t regret that it brought Ethan back to her. They now have a second chance if they can keep evil from destroying Chicago and Cadogan House with it.

But Merit is also the prey. An enemy of Chicagoland is hunting her, and he’ll stop at nothing to get the book for himself. No mercy allowed.
