Always the Vampire

Cesca's been asked by her best friend and savior, Maggie, to be her maid of honor. She wants to do everything she can to ensure that nothing go wrong on Maggie and Neil's big day. Unfortunately, a substance called the Void is infecting supernaturals all over. And it has infected Cesca's boyfriend Saber as well. Good thing Cesca is immune as it is going to be up to her to stop it. It's tough being the Vampire Princess!

One of my favorite vamps of all time is back with another adventure in Saint Augustine. I was thrilled to see this book arrive in my mailbox and I wasn't disappointed! Always the Vampire is a gem. I started it and finished it in about 24 hours and enjoyed every moment of my time with Cesca and friends. It was effortless to slide back into Cesca's world and have more details of it unfold. Cosmil, the wizard, knows that Cesca, Triton, and Saber have to work together in order to defeat the Void. So he starts training them how to do that and it really opens up the magical part of this world. Hopefully we will see more of that in future volumes. Cesca and Saber have grown so close and it is wonderful to watch them interact like a real couple, secure in their relationship. Triton and Cesca finally address their mutual past and can be friends again. The light moments of humor, planning Maggie's wedding and all the events that go along with it, help difuse some of the darkness that the Void and its maker cast over the city. Ms. Haddock has a lovely talent for balancing the mundane with the supernatural, that no matter how bad things are life, or underlife, goes on. There were a couple of little bombshells that get thrown in this one, especially the one involving Gorman, the stalker. I can't wait to see where that story arc will lead. Always the Vampire is a joy from start to finish!

Book Blurb for Always the Vampire

It's not easy being a dutiful maid of honor when you're a vampire in the Sunshine State...

Cesca Marinelli has been slacking on her duties as a vampire princess, but she will be the best maid of honor ever for Maggie's Victorian wedding. However, when her mostly-human honey, Saber, falls ill due to a magical construct called the Void, she knows she'll have to go beyond the call of bridesmaid duty...

The Void is affecting every supernatural being in Cesca's afterlife, including her shapeshifter ex, Triton. To counter the Void's reign of terror, Cesca must fully summon her vampire powers-which may lead to her own doom.
