“Passion Favors the Bold” is the second book in Theresa Romain’s Royal Rewards series. This spirited romance is charming, witty and engaging, and romance readers won’t want to miss out on this delightful story.
The heroine, Georgette, is independent, stubborn, and full of spirit. Her dialogue is delightful and she will have readers laughing at her words and antics. Georgette’s vulnerabilities create a well-rounded character who finds her purpose in the end. She is overall, a fantastic romance heroine. However, she does not outdo the hero, Hugo, is also quiet wonderful. Hugo is compassionate, determined, and a bit haunted making for a delightful pairing. The romance is steamy, but not overdone, and readers will be rooting for this couple from the very beginning.
Romain’s descriptions of the Northumberland setting is beautifully done, and she sets the scene for not only a romance, but a dangerous mystery as well.
I always enjoy a story with a good mystery, and “Passion Favors the Bold” has one with a twist readers won’t see coming.
The secondary characters, such as Jenks and Frederic are splendidly written and add extra dimension to the story. The pace of the plot is just right, and though I find Georgette’s employment with the Duchess of Willingham a bit odd and perhaps even unneeded, I did enjoy the ending.
Overall, “Passion Favors the Bold” is a witty and charming romance I recommend to Romain fans and historical romance fans in alike.
