Theirs To Take

Steamy, intense, with a surprising dollop of love thrown in for good measure.

I went into this book expecting it to be kind of dark and grim and was pleasantly surprised otherwise.

Yes, it talks about pretty stark things like human trafficking and deals with the steel-gray area of what people do in order to find their brand of justice. However, it helped that Eva seemed pretty on board from the start with corporal punishment and it was established pretty firmly that this was going to be a love story. A pretty freaking dark love story, but one nonetheless. Definitely for the insta-lust and almost-insta-love gang who likes their sex with a side of spanking.

I liked Eva's strength. I liked Syn and Gabriel and the tenderness hidden beneath their fallen-angel exterior. I thought that the interplay between the three was handled fairly well and the romance was mostly believable. For a given definition of believable, that is.

Suspend that disbelief and hold it hard. Theirs To Take is definitely completely a pleasure where the enjoyment can be drained by thinking too hard about things, but Natasha Knight does an admirable job of spinning the spell.

Book Blurb for Theirs To Take

Eva Webb didn't know what she'd find the night she followed her fiancé to that remote neighborhood. She had feared he was meeting another woman.

But it was so much worse than that.

"The man I loved betrayed me, stealing me in the night, packing me onto that truck like an animal to be sold to the highest bidder."

But when the vehicle is ambushed, she is delivered into the hands of her fiancé's worst enemies: vigilante brothers who would stop at nothing to take him down.

For Gabriel and Syn Rivera, hijacking the truck and stealing its cargo was another job, another way of taking back what was stolen from them.

Discovering Eva on board was an unexpected bonus.

They now held in their grasp the one thing that could bring down an entire organization, making her a pawn in a deadly game -- a game in which she'd need their protection to survive. That protection would come at a price though. The brothers, who have always shared their women, would require her submission.

But Eva would soon learn that in a world where criminals often wear two faces, lust can easily be mistaken for love -- and putting your trust in the wrong people can get you killed.
