Queens of Merab Collection

This collection was very sweet. Erotic and sweet -- my favorite combination.

Temair is a likable heroine and I enjoyed her journey to find her consorts. She's a princess, born to rule, and I thought that she had the perfect balance of grace and tolerance and the steel will necessary. I also liked her consorts -- Summers did a very good job in making them memorable and distinct from one another. It never felt like an unnecessary harem-love-fest as the men definitely all had a part to play.

Things that didn't work as well... To be honest, the use of the word fyre bothered me a bit, but I eventually got past that. Raine as opposed to water was also a bit odd, but somehow less objectionable in actual usage. I was also a little disappointed in the actual plot and character development. Everything felt a little too smooth, a little too fast, and everything fell into place a little too easily. I would have liked it if she and her Fyre had worked out a little more of their difference of opinions before everything was essentially settled through force of attraction. It would have been nice if he and then had a little more time to interact with the Raine consort. As it is, it worked as well as it did because I read all of the interconnecting novellas at one go. If taken separately, they wouldn't function very well as standalone novellas. But the overarching arc did carry through for this compilation. The unfortunate thing is that there wasn't an actual clear resolution of the inciting incident that starts the story in the first place, so it feels like there's going to be more to the story coming up.

Awkward maybe, but I'm going to be frank -- this is a great steal as a compilation, but I wouldn't snag the following shorts until they were collected into another book seeing as they're fairly pricey for the length.

That said, this is going on my keeper shelf for when I need a quick dose of something light, sweet, and just a little bit hot.

On the world of Merab, women rule, while men wield the magic. It's been an equitable system, until now. Temair finds herself on a Tour of the Queendom in search of her four Consorts -- the four men whose Elemental magic will awaken hers. In the process she's also found a troubled society where the men are tired of being abused and exploited. Faced with rebellion and betrayal, Temair and her consorts must find the strength within each other to become true leaders.

This collection contains the previously released novellas Temair's Fyre, Temair's Rayne, Temair's Aire, Temair's Earth, and the Hot Flash The Journey.
