This story was such a great read I couldn't put this book down! It was full of cheers and laughter abounding in this dilly of a novel! There are many tearful moments, but not all those moments are sad ones. It is a cute plot with some serious issues and stellar characters. And I loved the problem resolutions.
It is Christmas in Gandiegow. And there are two strangers who come together to figure out what to do with the family business, North Sea Valve Company. Pippa McDonnell's dad was hurt, so she comes home to take over the business. She discovers the finances in a mess that could ruin the company. It is the only employer in this tiny village in Scotland. Her dad doesn't want her to sell the only patent that all oil companies want for their rigs to fix the finances. But if she doesn't get money into the company, Pippa may have to sell something!
Max McKinley arrives to conduct a possible business deal for MTech. This deal is his ticket into a better job with MTech, if he can ward off his immediate superiors to make this deal possible, that is. Max discovers his employer's true intent in the documents MTech wants Pippa to sign. The villagers are less worried about the company and more worried about Pippa's and Max's relationship. They do their best to help Pippa and Max along in their romance.
Christmas seems magical in this novel about family, romance, and doing the right thing. Many times I've read dry holiday novels, but this book is a delight from start to finish. The problems seem insurmountable, but the novel shows how much is possible if there is hope. If you're not in the mood for Christmas, this book will get you in the mood for Christmas!
The newest romance in the charming Kilts and Quilts series from Patience Griffin, author of Meet Me in Scotland.
Christmas in the small village of Gandiegow brings holiday cheer—and a chance for love between two strangers…
When her father is injured in an accident, Edinburgh engineer Pippa McDonnell comes home to Gandiegow to take over the family business, the North Sea Valve Company. Now she’s working overtime trying to fix NSV’s finances and find the cash to get her father proper medical care.
One possibility is to accept a partnership with MTech, an American firm desperate to get their hands on her da’s innovative valve design. He was against bringing in outsiders, but Pippa is desperate enough to at least listen to MTech’s charming representative Max McKinley.
As Christmas approaches and with the help of Gandiegow's meddling quilters, Pippa and Max slowly find themselves attracted to each other. Max seems honorable, but is he there to steal the valve design…or Pippa’s heart?
