Ms. Mann does an excellent job in Pregnant by the Cowboy CEO. She creates a novel with believable characters, some realistic moments, and resulting tension throughout this story. This is a Harlequin Desire novel. If you're not familiar with the format, it's a romance story with sexual overtones. Regardless of the format, Ms. Mann's novel has a plot and it does move forward progressively by starting with the sexual overtones and developing a relationship from beyond that point.
Amie McNair has a problem. She had sex with Preston Armstrong in the cloak closet at a party given by her grandmother to welcome the new CEO of the McNair jewelry empire. Then she found out Preston is the new CEO. She spent the next few weeks or so avoiding Preston. Now, she is trying to keep her grandmother's promise to travel with Preston for a week while trying to figure out how to tell Preston she's pregnant. So, how will she tell him?
Catherine Mann does an excellent job turning this basic plot into an intensely sensual story of romance. Her characterizations are realistic, yet provide a fairytale quality to the story as she weaves two people with misunderstandings and conflicts into a working relationship with benefits thereby turning that relationship into a married couple expecting their first child. If you love Harlequin Desires in general, you will love this novel too. This is one novel that makes a great nightcap to tuck into bed.
