Ms. Amanda Ashley does a wonderful job crafting a grand tale in Night’s Promise. When an author’s series has had a wonderful run like Ms. Ashley it may be difficult to create new story lines, but not Amanda. Instead, Ms. Ashley takes a woman (Sheree) and a vampire (Derek) and focuses on the development of the relationship before discussing familial relationship issues.
Sheree Westerbrooke is searching for a certain kind of man: a vampire. She has spent most of her life reading, watching TV shows, going to movies, wrote vampire poetry, decorated her bedroom with posters as she was convinced (not like her family) there really were vampires in the world. So Sheree walks into a vampire bar dressed like a gothic vampire. And leaves knowing she has a date the next evening with a vampire named Derek.
At first they focused on the newness of the relationship. But all too soon, Sheree meets his mother, Mara, and stepfather, Logan. They discover Derek has a serious problem: his biological father was a werewolf, and Derek might change into a werewolf on the next full moon. Sheree tangles with some wolf hunters but survives thanks to Mara and Derek. After that crisis, Sheree’s father suffers a heart attack and nearly dies. Despite every stressful moment, Derek does the best he can to help her realize they were meant to be together.
This novel starts off gently but it gains momentum quickly. Night’s Promise is a story with many twists and turns guaranteed to keep readers interested and wanting another Amanda Ashley novel. In fact, this book can be viewed as lighted-hearted at times and heavy-hearted the next, which will be certain to enthuse readers.
For beautiful heiress Sheree West, vampires are more than a fantasy. They are an obsession. Night after night, she dresses in black and immerses herself in L.A.'s goth club scene. Searching for a lover who is more than a man. A creature of the dark who lusts for her blood. A legend who lives in the shadows and not just her dreams. Then, one fateful night, she meets him. . .
Derek Blackwood is no ordinary vampire. Descended from a bloodline as old as Cleopatra, and blessed with unearthly powers of seduction, he is everything Sheree wished for--and more. When he takes her in his arms, she is powerless. When he kisses her neck, she is his. But when the full moon rises--and passions flare--something is unleashed in Derek that he's never felt before. Something wild. Something dangerous. Something no vampire can control or stop. . .even for the woman he loves.
