Ms. Galenorn outdid herself this time. Night Vision is a fae tale with dark implications from start to finish! The characters exceeded expectations which greatly aided the novel. Night Vision captures the imagination when it comes to the pageantry of crowning a Fae Queen (let alone two queens) for Summer and Winter. This is the story of the crowning of two queens from the Fae Courts.
It is destiny when one queen gives way to the new order of the next generation of queens. Cicely (a wind witch) and her cousin Rhiannon are eager to assume their responsibilities. They have a few days before they are crowned to discover what a Fae court entails. Cicely has never been near a Fae court as her mother took her away from all of that at a young age. Rhiannon has had some experiences with the Fae court of Summer, as she knew growing up she’d be the Ruler of Summer. However, neither lady is fully prepared for all she has to give up or survive for her court.
If learning all they could about being a queen wasn’t bad enough, Renegade vampires Geoffrey and Leo are all over New Forest, Washington doing their best to wreak havoc and create mayhem. First, Geoffrey and Leo free the Blood Oracle, they deliberately and carelessly feed off of people, and then they kidnap Rhiannon. Cicely fights for her people’s survival and works on a plan to free Rhiannon. And it doesn’t help when Cicely, her King (Grieve), and Rhiannon’s Consort (Chatter) start receiving videos of the painful and humiliating punishments Rhiannon suffers at Geoffrey’s and Leo’s hands.
This is an excellent book all the way from imaginative fight scenes, wonderful realism of assuming the mantle of responsibilities, to great believable characters and outstanding plot devices. It is easy for a reader to fall under the spell of Cicely and her friends and family. This novel acts as a standalone, but it is also a book in the Indigo Court Series. I cannot wait to see if the next novel in this series will focus on Rhiannon.
Eons ago, vampires tried to turn the dark Fae in order to harness their magic, only to create a demonic enemy more powerful than they could have imagined. Now, even with Myst, the Queen of the Indigo Court, temporarily out of action, the new Queens of the Golden Wood find themselves facing incredible danger?
Destined to become the Fae Queens of Winter and Summer, Wind Witch Cicely and her cousin, Rhiannon, are eager to assume their roles and marry the loves of their lives. But while Myst hides in the shadows, seeking to regroup her forces, another danger is lurking closer. Renegade vampires Geoffrey and Leo manage to free the Blood Oracle and set him upon New Forest, Washington. Not satisfied with wreaking havoc on the town, Leo ups the ante by kidnapping Rhiannon. Now, Cicely must lead her forces in a bloody battle to save her cousin before everything they’ve worked for crumbles to dust.
