It's All Greek to Me

I am a Katie Mac. fan, no doubt about it! I love her books, so when I have a bias (for or against) I mention it up front. While I am partial to her dragon series, I do love her contemporary romances. With all of this in mind, here's what I found to my shock and surprise: yawning through the first bunch of chapters (got plenty of good sleep the prior night), struggling to read another five or six chapters, and I found myself feeling the conversation lagged (or was repetitive in places).

Yes, I love a good love story as much as the next person; I found it difficult to get to the end, where all stresses lead to joy and there are no wrinkles anywhere. The main reason this story fell flat, for me, was not enough tension. There were minor issues: ex-girlfriend (soon to be girlfriend to the bride), and a drunk brother-in-law. These are minor as nothing seems to provide lasting tension in the relationship which does get resolved in a big build up towards the end.

Aside from these issues, you can find (for the most part): some bantering conversations, outspoken/strong minded women characters, a strong central male character, and a positive attitude throughout this book.

When Eglantine “Harry” Knight sets off to Greece at the last minute to step in as manager of a friend’s touring band, the last thing she expects is to meet a billionaire Greek playboy. Iakovos Papaioannou is perfection on every level, except for his unpronounceable name. And Harry can’t stop herself from falling hard and fast for him.

Iakovos knew his sister hired her favorite band to perform at her birthday party, he’s just not sure where this six-foot-tall, wild-haired, tempestuous woman fits in, or how she’s already ended up in his bed—and in his heart. Harry is so not his type. She’s as infuriating as she is intriguing, and she can’t keep her hands off his butt. But she just may be the woman who knocks him off the world’s most eligible bachelor list for good…
