Hunk for the Holidays

This is a great novel for any season. Ms. Lane provides an unusual start with the classic case of mistaken identity, and then it snowballs into something more by the end of the evening! The plot is good and the characters are well-defined. This is a strong romance novel from start to finish.

The story starts with businesswoman Cassie McPherson (needing a date for the company Christmas party) hiring an escort. Sadly, he doesn’t show, but fate steps in and gives her a hand by presenting James Sutton, her family’s business rival, for the unexpected task. James is smitten from the get-go. He tries to straighten out the mistaken identity several times, but she’s too wrapped up in her own worries to bother to listen.

So, after an evening of partying, they end up at his house (set in “suburban hell”). Their “private” party continues until the next day. When Cassie does find out James was not her paid escort but her family’s business rival, the sparks start flying. It takes awhile for these two to forget their pride, but with help from friends and family members (not to mention the neighbors from “suburban hell”) these two strong-willed individuals end up making the most of their Christmas cheer.

Hunk for the Holidays is a wonderful book. It was light-hearted and irreverent at times, which made it the perfect kind of book to snuggle up to in front of a fire on a cold day. There were moments of hilarity which made it impossible to set the book down. This is a standalone book though it could turn into a series as some of the characters are unforgettable. If you’re interested in reading other novels by her, Ms. Lane writes mostly Cowboy Romances.

Book Blurb for Hunk for the Holidays

Always putting business before pleasure, Cassie McPherson works hard for her family's construction business. That might explain why she doesn't have a date for the company Christmas party. But it doesn't quite explain why she's crazy enough to hire an escort for the event or - crazier still - why she's dying to unwrap him like a present . . .

With whiskey-colored eyes and a killer smile, James is one gorgeous hunk who really knows how to fill out a tuxedo. He charms everyone, including Cassie. And when the night ends, the party doesn't stop. As Cassie falls, literally, into his bed, James falls head over heels in love. Now he has to figure out a way to tell her the truth: he's not an escort. He's her family's fiercest business rival. But all he wants for Christmas is her . . .
