Design For Murder

Murder, She Wrote

Design for Murder is a terrific story! This is my first read in this series. I've watched the TV series and in many respects this book mirrors the characters from the show very closely. I enjoyed this novel from the get go. The characters are well developed, the plot is clear and runs true to the show. The murder happens relatively early in the story and figures prominently throughout the book. Jessica's "voice" comes through rather easily in this novel.

Jessica is in New York City during the fashion week. A designer who grew up in Cabot Cove is trying to make a name for himself by establishing his concept line. At the end of the first day a model collapses and dies suddenly. Jessica suspects murder as the model was too young to die of a heart attack. This model was not well liked by her roommates nor by the rest of the modeling world. But especially true is the designer not liking the young lady.

While Jessica is looking for clues to discover who is the killer, she meets a police officer who keeps running into her at the various functions. At one point her nephew and his family have Jessica and the officer over for dinner. Jessica is not interested in a romance, but the officer doesn't give up. Along the way Jessica meets a surgeon to aspiring models, and mainly women who want to look younger as well as others within the fashion industry.

Overall, this story is very similar to the TV series. It is an enjoyable gem which is handy when needing some light reading material. This book is one in a series, but is good as a standalone too. So have fun with this novel as it is a lighthearted story with familiar characters, plot, and speed!

Book Blurb for Design For Murder

In the newest in the USA Today bestselling series, Jessica Fletcher visits New York City during Fashion Week, only to discover that someone has rather fatal designs...

KILLER COUTURE

Jessica is in Manhattan to attend the debut of new designer Xandr Ebon—formerly Sandy Black of Cabot Cove. He’s introducing his evening wear collection to the public and—more important—to the industry’s powers that be: the stylists, magazine editors, buyers, and wealthy clientele who can make or break him.

At the show, the glitz and glamour are dazzling until a young new model shockingly collapses and dies. Natural causes? Perhaps. But when another model is found dead, a famous cover girl and darling of the paparazzi, the fashion world gets nervous.

Two models. Two deaths. Their only connection? Xandr Ebon. Jessica’s crime-solving instincts are put to the test as she sorts through the egos, the conflicts of interest, the spiteful accusations, and the secrets, all while keeping an amorous detective at arm’s length. But she’ll have to dig deep to uncover a killer. A designer’s career is on the line. And another model could perish in a New York minute.
