An excellent read to get one in the Christmas spirit! This holiday book has it all: laughter, fun, tears of joy, and best of all it's packed into one story! Toni Blake outdid herself this time with a cast of characters old and new. It was fun to see how the novel unfolded into a spirited tale of love.
Shane Dalton was moving to Miami for an opportunity to make lots of money fast. But first he had to go to Destiny, Ohio as his dad on his deathbed mentioned it in his last few words. But Shane ends up staying in Destiny because of a snowstorm which caused his accident and has to spend the night in Candice Sheridan's home. Candice is reluctant to share her home with a stranger, but does so after he brought back her cat.
It takes a while, but Candice warms up to this stranger as she continually meets him in Destiny. First, Shane meets Grampy who is willing to put him up in his upper loft as Shane has little money to pay for lodging. Then Shane starts to meet the rest of the town when a crisis comes up: the snow on the church roof and the community center roof was so heavy it broke both roofs. So while Shane waits for his truck to be repaired, he is busy helping the town put tarps on the roofs and even helps out for a special wedding by suggesting it be held in the town square.
This was a nice read for the beginning of the holidays. If you want a pick-me-up-kind-of-a-book, this is the one for you. It is very positive and uplifting. There are a few surprises in the book, which I'll leave for you to discover. So enjoy!
