Lovers Restored

Lovers Redeemed, #1

I tried really hard to enjoy Lovers Restored, and while the writing style and the plot were excellent, I found the main characters tough do relate to. The story line flowed well and that part of the book kept my interest. The author did a fabulous job of bringing you into her world and making me as a reader feel like I was right in the story right alongside the characters, but it was the actual characters that I had a major issue with.

First there is Cooper. He is someone I just could not bring myself to like until almost the end of the book. He was kind of a jerk and even though him and Halle have a past, what he does to her and makes her endure the entire story make him out to be more of a bully than anything. He is a bit of a sanctimonious bastard if you want my opinion. That is not the way I like my leading men in a story.

Halle is a great girl, but a bit of a pushover and she just lets Cooper walk all over her, guilt does that I guess. I am not sure if I can really say that they had great chemistry out of the bedroom, but the erotic scenes between the two were pretty hot.

The ending is this books’ redeeming quality when it comes to the story. Cooper finally redeems himself, although I think it took a bit too long. I am on the fence about a recommendation for this book. I would not read it again and it would not be high on my to be read pile. It was well written and did keep me turning the pages until the end to see exactly how Cooper and Halle’s relationship would pan out.
