Taking a Shot

A Play-by-Play Novel

This is the third book in Jaci Burton's "Play By Play" Series, revolving around the Riley family. Jenna Riley runs the family bar after her father has a serious heart attack, but it's the last place she wants to be. She has spent a life time convincing herself that she detests Sports, and most definitely will never get into a relationship with a Sports player. Enter Ty Andrews, way-too-sexy Pro-Hockey player. (Just take a look at that Cover!) Ty sets his sights on Jenna, determined to break through her barriers and show her that she can follow her own dreams without allowing her "self-restrictions" affect her happiness. Although dead set on seducing Jenna into bed ASAP, Ty is still a man who thinks the situation through and plots his moves carefully because Jenna is determined to fight him every step of the way.

Although packed with Ms. Burton's well-known HOT sex scenes, the plot was a bit weak in spots. Jenna's reasons for hating sports and avoiding those involved in them were weak in many ways. And despite her supposed resistance, she still falls right into sex with Ty --almost immediately in the beginning of the story. Because of this, and the constant "I hate anything to do with sports" and "Yes, let’s have sex" lines, the plot was weakened. It might have been a stronger story if Jenna had held out against Ty a bit longer.

Still, Ms. Burton's books are great, HOT reads, and reader fans don’t want to miss this new addition to the Riley family saga.
