Book #4 in Marta Acosta's "Casa Dracula" Series is another fun, sassy, engrossing adventure into the world of the vampire genre. In "Haunted Honeymoon" we meet Milagro de los Santos who tells the story in First POV, with a touch of dry humor that really adds to the tone of the book.
Milagro is a rarity: She's the only human ever to survive a vampire bite and not be fully turned. Which is great for her; she loves the party life and still being able to walk in the sun. When she breaks up with her fiance' vampire Dr. Oswald she ends up starting a relationship with bad boy vampire Ian Ducharme. She thinks she's finally found true love. Only there's one major problem. Ian is the very epitome of the bad-boy-loves-wild-parties-and-lots-of-women type. He thinks he's superior and can do as he pleases --and that includes having as many women as he wants.
When Milagro walks in on one of Ian's wild-women parties and catches him cheating on her she's so hurt she decides to leave and move to London. There, she starts a new relationship with night-surfer vampire Wilcox Spiggot. Only trouble has followed her there, too. Wilcox is found murdered in her bed.
Poor Milagro has trouble coming at her from all directions. She has a fall and ends up with short-term amnesia. Thinking to find what's she's lost she returns to Oswald's home. There, Ian is "introduced" to her -- again. Round two. Now she has two sexy vampires vying for her love. What's a confused woman to do?
Full of sassy fun, action, sexy vampires, gruesome deaths, torture, and yes --even explosions, this is a page-turner! I would recommend it to anyone who loves reading the vampire genre. I would have preferred it not to be in First POV, but that's just my opinion because even the cute Chapter Titles will keep you turning those pages to find out which of the two men finally win Milagro's heart.
Will she get another chance with the vamp that got away?
As the only human to survive vampire infection, Milagro de Los Santos has become quite a celebrity among the blood-drinking elite. Too bad the perks of her condition—increased strength, super-fast healing—don’t pay her condo fees. There are other complications too. She feels guilty about her fling with decadent, enigmatic Vampire Council member Ian Ducharme, and she pines for her ex-fiancé, Dr. Oswald Grant . . . the fabulous man whose kiss changed her life.
It’s when Milagro—upset by Ian’s attentions to his neighbor—travels to London and enjoys a sexy flirtation of her own, that the blood really hits the fan. Suddenly, those around her are dying gruesome deaths and Milagro’s being interrogated. Who would kill to set her up as a murder suspect?
All she wants to is turn back the clock and have another chance to make things right. No sooner has she escaped to Oswald’s ranch than an accident obliterates her memory. Will the murderer come after her, and will amnesia spark a romantic do-over with Oswald—or will Milagro make all the same mistakes before she ever gets to say “I do”?
