Justice at Cardwell Ranch by B.J. Daniels is the fourth story in a Harlequin Intrigue series centering around the Cardwell family on a Montana Ranch. B.J. is a seasoned writer for Harlequin and my personal favorite. Enough background information is provided to start reading from this book without being lost in this wonderful series.
Jordan Cardwell returns to his 20th high school reunion with the agenda of finding out if his best friend really did commit suicide. Has two decades softened the bonds of high school allegiances or do the “mean girls” still rule? And with a recent murder case, Deputy Marshall Liza Turner would like to run her investigation without assistance from the prime suspect, Jordan, but when the murderer aims towards her, Jordan becomes more than just her love interest.
B.J. knows how to write a keep-you-guessing murder mystery. There are a lot of suspects, including the one you hoped did it, the one you think did it and the shocking one that actually did it. Just to keep you on your toes, everyone else is far from innocent in this small town drama.
Justice Cardwell packs in a full complex story that will keep you guessing until the last page. There are a wealth of interesting characters that I hope to see continue on the pages of future Harlequin novels.
Six years ago, Dana Cardwell found her mother's will in a cookbook and became sole owner of the Cardwell Ranch in Big Sky, Montana. Now happily married, Dana is surprised when her siblings, Stacy and Jordan, show up on the ranch…and trouble isn't too far behind.
As danger draws closer to the ranch, deputy marshal Liza Turner quickly realizes that Jordan Cardwell isn't the man the town made him out to be.
