Witchful Thinking

A Jolie Wilkins Novel

Jolie Wilkins has dealt with a lot of things in her life, from seeing ghosts to traveling back in time. When she returns from her adventures in the past, she learns that she is the Queen of the Underworld and has magic so powerful that she can raise the dead. Her next assignment as Queen is to raise the dead soldiers that helped her fight against evil and unite all the supernatural creatures into one group. On top of that, she is hiding a secret from her boyfriend, Rand, that could destroy him while dealing with romantic feelings toward the sexy yet deadly vampire, Sinjin. In the end, Jolie has to finally face her destiny and become the person that she always wanted to be even it means losing the things that she loves the most.

This is the third novel in the Jolie Wilkins series and I was immediately sucked into the story from the very first page. This book is a fast-paced novel with paranormal elements that I felt were very enjoyable. This would be a perfect novel to start with if you haven’t read the rest of the series because the author gets you caught up to date on what has happened so far. I liked Jolie as a character because she was trying to deal with the overwhelming things that were being thrown at her. She not only had to deal with the ramifications of her adventures in the past but she had to bring all the supernatural creatures together as one unit to fight the evil that she knew they would soon be facing. I could see her struggle with these decisions and even though she may not have made all the right choices, she believed that what she was doing would protect everyone in the end.

The only complaint that I had with Jolie was that at times she could be a little whiny and it took her a little while to stand on her own two feet and be a strong woman. I liked the secondary characters as well especially Sinjin, who I would love to have as an ally even though he is a vampire and could kill you at any moment. This book ends on a cliffhanger so I can't wait for the next one to see how everything is resolved.

Book Blurb for Witchful Thinking

From H. P. Mallory-the exciting author of Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble-comes her new paranormal romance featuring the sassy, self-deprecating witch Jolie Wilkins.

Jolie thinks she's seen it all, but life continues to spring surprises. The latest shocker? She's just been crowned Queen of the Underworld. Jolie may possess a rare gift for reanimating the dead, but she doesn't know the first thing about governing disparate factions of supernatural creatures. She can barely maintain order in her own chaotic personal life, which is heading into a romantic tailspin.

First there's sexy warlock Rand, the love of her life, from whom Jolie is hiding a devastating secret. Then there's Sinjin, a darkly seductive vampire and Jolie's sworn protector-though others suspect he harbors ulterior motives. As the two polar opposite yet magnetic men vie for Jolie's affection, she must keep her wits about her to balance affairs of state and affairs of her heart. Overwhelmed, under pressure, and longing for love, Jolie decides it's time to take charge-and show everyone that this queen won't take jack.
