"What a Rancher Wants" is a great read by Sarah M. Anderson! This Harlequin Desire novel, part of 'The Texas Cattleman’s Club: The Missing Mogul' mini-series, is exciting, sweet, and passionate. Gabriela and Chance have great chemistry from the very beginning of the novel. Anderson has a nice mix of tender and funny moments for her characters. I enjoyed the details of Gabriela’s backstory, which made her character very relatable. Since Gabriela’s history was so detailed, I wish that the same had been done for Chance. There are glimpses of Chance’s current life, but not many of his past. The plot was swift and kept me intrigued. I was caught up in it and found myself laughing out loud at some parts. I am anxious to read Alex’s book to discover more!
Sheltered Gabriela del Toro is an elegant and feisty jewelry designer who has been secluded on her father’s Mexican estate. Her desire for freedom is only heightened when she travels to America to care for her brother Alex. She is taken by surprise when she immediately falls for Chance McDaniel, her brother’s “friend”. Chance is charmed by Gabriela’s beauty and grace, but is wary of trusting another del Toro. Alex had been Chance’s best friend until his disappearance. Chance is still suspected of being involved in the kidnapping, but if you ask him, he was the one who had been betrayed. And if Alex had betrayed him, then perhaps Gabriela was playing him too. Neither Gabriela nor Chance can fight the growing attraction between them. But can they truly learn to love one another when they can’t trust each other?
