Julie Anne Long’s "Dirty Dancing at Devil’s Leap" is an outright delight! The characters are great, the dialogue is witty, and the plot is fun. This is the first book I’ve read by Julie Anne Long, and her style is catching – I’m excited to read more! Avalon is sharp and a bit sassy with a good heart. Mac is just as quick, making their banter lively and their encounters entertaining. There is also something very real about Avalon and her reactions to her situations – making her a very relatable character. The minor characters are interesting and memorable too – I keep wondering which ones will have a story later on. They’re around just enough to help flesh out the main characters without dominating the scene. With just a touch of drama to keep things interesting, and the history between the two characters acting as a foundation, the plot moves at a very decent pace. And when it’s just Mac and Avalon, well there are some really sexy scenes between these two sizzling leads! Dirty Dancing at Devil’s Leap is a very fun read!
Avalon Harwood has made a good life for herself outside of Hellcat Canyon. She’s climbed the ladder of success and now it’s time to reap the rewards. When she returns home, she seizes the opportunity to buy the run-down yet magnificent Coltrane mansion - the house she’d loved since her childhood. Not to mention that she’d once loved the boy who lived there, Mac Coltrane, who crushed her heart once upon a time. Mac Coltrane, who she outbid for the house. Mac Coltrane who also happens to be the groundskeeper for the property.
When Mac discovered that it was Avalon Harwood who had outbid him for his old home, irritation had been replaced by surprise. Surprise and a familiar feeling of desire that he had whenever Avalon had come around. Avalon was always a match for his comptetitive nature, but that’s not going to stop him for fighting for what’s his… even if he has to play dirty.
She was a naive country girl. He was a billionaire's spoiled son. He was her first crush, her first heartbreak...and now her sworn enemy.
As Avalon Harwood's fortunes soared, Maximilian “Mac” Coltrane's plummeted, and he had to fight his way back to where they both began: Hellcat Canyon. Now Mac and Avalon will play dirty—in more ways than one—to get what they each want: the glorious old abandoned Coltrane mansion. But when Avalon snaps the house up at auction, she discovers there's something awfully familiar about the extremely hot caretaker...
Mac might have a heart of stone, and the abs to match, but Avalon—the dazzling girl whose heart was always too big and too reckless for her own good—was always his Kryptonite. And just like that, the stakes change: suddenly they're fighting not just for a house, but for a magic they tasted only once before and never since—long ago, with each other, at Devil's Leap.
“Julie Anne Long’s books are sexy and adorable!”
