Savage Winter

Seasons of Paleo Book 1

I've read and enjoyed a lot of Rachel Van Dyken's books. The cover for Savage Winter is truly breath-taking and is what drew me to this book. Though it is the well-developed writing used to create memorable characters what kept me reading.

Savage Winter is a very cool novella. I did think that it was short and kind of predictable. The legends and mythology surrounding Kyle and Kaden do made it a must read story and it was very hard to put down.

I really like that the Seasons of Paleo series will be a four book series and that we will get one each season. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, it’s titled Reign of the Lion.

I would have given Savage Winter a score boost if it had been a little longer and a little more fleshed out.

Book Blurb for Savage Winter

If they take you, you don't come back. You either die...or wish you had. The Western Empire was ruthless. The only reason I survived was because he gave his life for me--a life that might as well have been mine, for when they stole his last heartbeats, they silenced my own. They call me princess, an answer to the prophecy, but I’m nothing more than a prisoner...awaiting my lifelong punishment. Marriage. To the Prince of the East. But it’s the Royal Protector who reminds me of what I lost. He threatens something I never thought I'd have again...my heart.
