This is not your typical fairy tale romance. There were many rocky roads that both characters have to struggle through and overcome. I found myself wanting to learn more about their past and why they were feeling the way they felt. The story flowed well for the most part and I could tell the Ms. Blair took great pains in her research in the more 'seedy' parts of the story. It was a little confusing at times in the back and forth between two unseemly connected main characters, but it was wrapped up by the end and I felt a little more at ease with the story line. A word of warning to readers, while this story does have the BDSM disclaimer, it has more of a fetish theme than a BDSM theme. If red bottoms and cougar stories are your thing, then I have a feeling you will definitely like this story. I did like the book and am going to look for more of Ms. Blair's titles to add to my library.
