The story of Dominic St. Claire and Sophia Huntington is a beautiful and charming story of love overcoming familial stigma and belief to find happiness. The characters are engaging, and extremely well rounded. The story flows effortlessly, creating a timeless tale full of love and laughter. This is the second book in the series about the feud between the Huntington’s and the St. Claire’s, illustrating the stories of the individuals in each family who dare to buck tradition. It is a novel that can easily stand on it’s own and does not necessarily need to be read in order. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel, and readers seeking a grand romance to stand the test of time will love it as well.
Lady Sophia Huntington is in a lot of trouble. After a brief marriage, she is left widowed and abandoned to make her own way in the world. One of her first escapades leads her afoul of Lord Hammond, a man well used to achieving his own way, often through nefarious means. The next escapade runs Sophia straight into the arms of Dominic St. Claire, a member of the notorious St. Claire family; well know for hating the Huntington family. The beauty of the situation is that Dominic has no idea who the beautiful lady in black is. Dominic makes it his mission in life to determine the identity of the mysterious woman, the woman he has dreamt about for months. What he doesn’t expect to find is that she is a despised Huntington! Yet when Sophia is threatened, Dominic knows he must ride to the rescue, Huntington or not. Let the adventure begin.
