The Scent of Salt & Sand

An Escaped Novella

Let me begin by saying that I am a tremendous fan of authors Kristin Cast and P.C. Cast. "The Scent of Salt and Sand" is a novella in their new Escaped series. This tale is a continuation of Amber Smoke and Scarlet Rain, the first two novels in the series. I adored this book. Its flows gently along, rather like the ocean, while still having plenty of gasp out loud moments. I loved Melody and Dean, our hero and heroine. Melody is a delight, and Dean is a very intriguing man. They play off each other brilliantly. If it’s not obvious, I absolutely loved this book. I will eagerly be anticipating the next book in the Escaped series!

For time beyond measure, the Sirens have been banned to Tartarus. They are not happy, but rarely, they are allowed out in small groups for a little while. Melody is a Siren, and she’s torn. She wants to visit the human world, but she’s also terrified to, for personal reasons. But it seems her time to go is now. So Melody sets out for the human world, totally unprepared for what’s to come. Dean is startled when he sees a beautiful woman floating in the ocean. After diving in to rescue her, he’s startled to realize that she doesn’t need help. And then she’s gone. When he finds her, and discovers her name is Melody, he’s lovestruck. For that matter, so is Melody. Yet as a Siren, she’s forbidden from loving a human. Can their love survive, or will it condemn them both to death?

Book Blurb for The Scent of Salt & Sand

In Amber Smoke and Scarlet Rain, acclaimed bestselling author Kristin Cast built a world in which the walls separating Tartarus from the mortal realm have crumbled, releasing every variety of evil into today’s world. In this novella, she sends her fans on a new adventure, one that will meet up with the rest of The Escaped series as it continues on its spellbinding journey.

The Sirens are on a mission: to escape Tartarus and rebuild their kingdom in the bay city of San Francisco. They aren’t monstrous by nature, but the line between good and evil blurs when their very existence is in danger.

Melody Seirina has always been different. When it is her turn to hunt, as all Sirens must do, she meets Dean, and sees a target who will allow her to fulfill her purpose. What she doesn’t count on is falling in love?a love that could destroy them both.

The romance and the tension heat up as Kristin and P.C. Cast, co-authors of the House of Night series, team up again to bring their magic to the world of The Escaped, raising the stakes for the mortal realm to a fever pitch.
