The story of Griffin and Phoebe Barry is a delightfully fun story, full of side splitting humor as well as scorching hot romance and heartwarming emotion. The characters are all very enjoyable and extremely likeable. I found myself cheering and laughing out loud for Griffin and Phoebe more than once. The story moves very quickly but is very engaging and charming. The author has a talent for writing novels that are both captivating and satisfying. This novel does not disappoint. This is a novel that will seduce and enchant readers. So in the end, it won’t only be Phoebe who ends up seduced by a pirate, the reader will be seduced as well. I certainly was.
Griffin Barry is a pirate. Well, a privateer to be exact. When he is injured at sea, he and his cousin James determine that it is time to return to England and the wives they left behind 14 years prior. A bet is made as to which cousin can seduce his long lost wife first. Phoebe Eleanor Barry, Griffin’s long lost wife, is not surprised to find out her missing husband is a pirate. She is surprised when a gorgeous, extremely well built man appears on her doorstep claiming to be Griffin. She is even more surprised when he graciously accepts the three children who are now hers. When two fiercely independent people who are supposed to be married butt heads, sparks will fly.
In Eloisa James's companion story to The Ugly Duchess, Sir Griffin Barry, captain of the infamous pirate ship The Poppy, is back in England to claim the wife he hasn't seen since their wedding day . . . but this is one treasure that will not be so easy to capture.
