Once Upon a Masquerade

Having always been a big fan of masquerade balls, the title of this enchanting novel was the first lure that drew me in. It most assuredly did not disappoint in any way whatsoever. I found the story itself to be full of laughter and life, and completely drew me into the crazy adventure to be found within. The characters were captivating, and I totally fell for Christopher Black. Not only was he adorably devilish, he also has a heart of pure gold. This novel is one that refused to allow me to put it down. Romance fans will adore this book as much as I did, I am absolutely certain.

When Christopher Black spies a ravishing beauty across the room at a masquerade ball, he is determined to discover all of her deepest secrets. When he finally meets her, he is startled to find he is not only attracted to her looks, but also to her stunning personality. What he fails to realize is that this mysterious maid is, in fact, the same maid who spilled hot tea on his lap earlier in the week. Rebecca knows she cannot let Christopher discover her identity, or it could cost not only her father, but also herself, their lives. Christopher is in Boston to investigate his best friend’s murder, and his request to “watch over” a mysterious woman who bears a jeweled comb. Christopher’s investigation leads him in many different directions, but all roads eventually lead to Rebecca. As his heart has steadily melted toward her, he wonders if she is, in fact, the killer. But an unknown enemy waits in the shadows, and as Christopher tries valiantly to save Rebecca, the shadows wait to strike. Can he save her? Will she let him?
