It's Hard Out Here for a Duke

Keeping Up with the Cavendishes

Well, Maya Rodale has managed to do it again....she has hit a home run with the tale of James Cavendish. His tale is the fourth in her outstanding Keeping Up with the Cavendishes series, and wow, was it ever great! I found James to be a likable and very stubborn but honor-bound character, who is determined, after much struggle, to grow into the Duke he was meant to be. And I really enjoyed the character of Meredith, a beautiful girl with a very tender heart. The tale itself weaves all four of the Cavendish brood seamlessly into an enthralling tale of love and loss; struggle and pain. It is a story that moves quickly, yet never once was I lost in the reading. I just couldn't put it down! I would suggest reading in order, although it is certainly not necessary.

James Cavendish is at a loss. With his father now dead, he's been summoned to London to inherit the dukedom his father once abandoned. A dukedom! How on Earth is a lowly horse famer supposed to step into those lofty shoes?? But step into them he does, reluctantly and very unsteadily. All four of the Cavendish children are required in London, and now that all of them are there, London is abuzz with the news of their arrival. James has one minor indiscretion from the night he arrived....he is shocked when he arrives to find his indiscretion is at his home, in the form of the Dowager Duchess's companion, Meredith. Meredith is just as surprised. As the London season starts, so does the shenanigans they all get into. And James is expected to marry! Can he actually find a way to follow his heart and marry Meredith? Or will he be doomed to wed one of the haute ton, and reside in misery? Only time will tell....

Book Blurb for It's Hard Out Here for a Duke

In the fourth novel of Maya Rodale’s tantalizing series, a newly minted duke spends one night with his perfect woman...but can he win her for a lifetime

Some Mistakes…

When American-born James Cavendish arrives in London tomorrow, he’ll become the Duke of Durham. Some might be ecstatic at the opportunity. Not James. He’s a simple man, fond of simple pleasures. And right now, nothing could be more pleasurable than spending his last night of freedom with a beautiful stranger.

Are Far Too Good…

One wild night, Meredith Green, companion to the dowager Duchess of Durham, said yes to a man she thought she’d never see again. Suddenly, they’re living under the same roof, where Meredith is expected to teach James how to be a duke—while trying not to surrender to temptation a second time.

To Be Forgotten

For a duke and a commoner, marriage would be pure scandal. Yet nothing has ever felt as right as having Meredith in his arms…and in his bed. Soon he must choose—between a duty he never desired, and a woman he longs for, body and soul…
