Island of the Forbidden

This book came along at a perfect time. I was in the mood for a good, spooky book, and this one definitely fits the bill! I loved it. This book drew me in from the very beginning with a deeply intriguing storyline and more hidden gems than I anticipated. Talk about exciting! I really enjoyed the characters as well. Jessica and Eddie are a great pairing, and they almost literally jump off the page. I loved heir interactions, and the way they did everything possible to work together. Jessica is a very strong character that I instantly identified with. All told, I loved this novel and everything about it. I will say that it’s not one for the faint of heart, but for anyone seeking a good thrill? This novel will absolutely fill that niche.

When a call comes in to Jessica that a mansion off the coast of North Carolina is in need of help removing spirits, Jessica was rather reluctant to take it. Yes, she is a very highly sought after paranormal investigator who can easily handle this case, but after previous investigations, she is after a break. Yet all bets are off when she hears that children are in danger. After connecting again with Eddie, her investigation coworker who is also incredibly gifted, they take off for Ormsby Island, and the horrors that await them there. Upon arrival, the haunting seriously amps up, as it seems that Jessica is the only one the spirits can communicate with. The further they get into the investigation, the more they begin to realize the true horrors that lay in the shadows of the past. And when those shadows begin to come back, can Jessica and Eddie save the residents of Ormsby Island, in spite of the obstacles? Or will they, too, be lost to the terror that awaits them there?

But something far more insidious is living on the island. When the living and the dead guard their true intentions, how can Jessica discover just what sort of evil lurks on Ormsby Island? And why is Jessica the only one who can plumb its dark depths?
