I’m a huge fan of author Julianna Gray’s Princess in Hiding series. These books are so unique and so fun to read, they are such a fresh take on the historical romance genre. How to Master Your Marquis is the second book in this outrageously fun series, and it certainly does not disappoint in any way. The storyline has lots of unique twists and turns, many of which had me laughing out loud. The characters are utterly enchanting and entirely delightful. So far, I must say, Princess Stefanie is my favorite of the Princesses in Hiding. This is her tale, and she seems to have the most spunk and attitude that I can recall so far anyway. Romance lovers will love this novel (and series) as much as I did.
How do you hide a beautiful princess in plain sight? Why, dress her as a plain looking man and hide her with the most boring barrister in all of London, that’s how. Oh, and there’s one more trick to hiding her in plain sight. Hope she doesn’t fall for the barrister’s gorgeous nephew, Lord James Lambert, the Marquess of Hatherfield. But being the law clerk for the barrister does give her the opportunity she craves to go about with Lord Hatherfield unchaperoned, so it’s not all bad, although the fashion is horrendous. James quickly sees who, and what she is, unbeknownst to Stefanie. But James has deadly secrets of his own. What will happen when not only his dark past but her troubled past comes back to haunt them both? Who wants Stefanie dead? What secrets does James hold? Will the secrets they each hold eventually bring them together or drive them apart forever?
Three intrepid princesses find themselves targets in a deadly plot against the crown?until their uncle devises a brilliant plan to keep them safe...
Of all her sisters, Princess Stefanie is by far the least amenable to law and order, which is why she’s appalled to find herself masquerading as an unbearably drab clerk for the most honorable barrister in England. But her dull disguise turns out to have its privileges: namely, the opportunity to consort unchaperoned with her employer’s exceedingly handsome nephew, James Lambert, the Marquess of Hatherfield.
Hatherfield quickly realizes that his uncle’s spirited new clerk is, in fact, a lovely young woman of daring habits. The outwardly impeccable marquis isn’t about to reveal her deception. After all, he’s hiding a dangerous secret of his own. But when one too many escapades with the madcap princess bring Hatherfield’s troubled past to light, it is only Stefanie’s sharp wits that stand between the marquis and utter disaster, and only Hatherfield’s daring that can save the princess from the shadowy agents bent on finding her.
