Heart and Dagger

The Ships in the Night Series, #1

Oh, the siren song of the sea. It's called to me ever since I was a child. In doing so, I fell in love with pirates, both real and fictional. "Heart and Dagger" is not a normal pirate love story; it is an incredible tale of a very brave woman and a very stubborn man. Catalina Sol is our heroine, and what a story she has! She's a fierce woman, stubborn and dedicated to those she cares for. Armand Rajaram de Bourbon is just as fierce and just as loyal, yet he has a stubborn streak of justice in his blood. Both characters are outstanding! I found this tale to be enchanting and fast paced. I'll eagerly be seeking out more books from this awesome author!

Charlotte Talbot always knew she would marry Armand. They grew up together, and were constant playmates; at least until his family left for India and she never heard from him again. Upon the eve of her wedding to another, Charlotte decides she cannot go through with it and runs away. At this moment, Charlotte Talbot, eldest daughter of an earl, is no more. Catalina Sol has emerged in her place. As years go by, Catalina earns her own ships, which she uses to rescue those who need help. She's not really a pirate, nor a mercenery, though she can easily handle either role. That is, until a ghost from her past requests her help. Armand is alive, and he needs her to rescue his brother, Henri. As the adventure of a lifetime begins, Catalina and Armand must learn to trust, and learn to love. But when it comes down to it, can she trust her heart with him? Or will he leave her shattered and broken and all alone?

Book Blurb for Heart and Dagger

Lady Charlotte Talbot hasn’t seen Armand Rajaram de Bourbon, her oldest childhood friend and once betrothed, since his family returned to India when she was fifteen. Since then, she has left a groom at the altar, changed her name to Catalina Sol, opened a house for unwed mothers and orphans, and captained a ship, the Liberté, crewed by the best fighters in the Spanish Main. She’s no longer the lady he left behind, not that she’d admit to wishing he’d return.

When Armand’s brother is kidnapped, he breaks his rule of never engaging with pirates. But desperation drives him to the Liberté and a life he thought he’d left far behind. He’d do anything to save Henri, but Armand never expected to find Charlotte here, and now that’s he’s found her, he doesn’t have a clue what to do about it.

Together, they must face kidnapping, pirate captains, blackmail, and themselves. The Liberté may sail thousands of miles from the shores of England, but that might not be far enough to escape the past.
