Chasing Amanda

I will be totally honest here, Chasing Amanda is not usually the kind of novel I would choose to read. I normally read more of the romance genre, or the paranormal genre. With that said, this novel most assuredly struck a chord with me. I could not, with good conscience, put it down. The paranormal is most assuredly a heavy influence in this novel. The storyline is well written, and will keep a reader, including me, engaged. The plot twists and turns in so many different ways, it made the novel, at times, a touch confusing. The characters are intriguing, and each one has their own secrets to bear. One word of caution: I would not recommend this novel for younger readers, as it does deal with a difficult topic. All in all, this novel was enjoyable to read, albeit slightly difficult in some spots.

Nine years ago, Molly Tanner witnessed the unthinkable: a young girl being abducted from a parking lot. Not long after, the young girl’s body is found, and Molly’s world is shattered. Molly has the gift of clairvoyance, and while the girl was missing, she occasionally received glimpses of random things, which she did not credit to her gift. As Molly finally realized what was happening, the young girl was dead. Molly and her husband have since relocated to a small town, and life seems to have returned to normal. That is, until another little girl, Tracy, goes missing. This time, Molly knows to trust her gift, and knows she must do something-anything!-to save Tracy. The town doesn’t understand, and neither does her husband. As time ticks on, can Molly use her gift to save Tracy before it’s too late? Or will this be another child, taken too soon?

An emotional read that tests the strength of one's own ability to deal with a parent's worst nightmare.  Nine years ago, Molly Tanner witnessed a young girl's abduction in the busy city of Philadelphia, shifting her occasional clairvoyance into overdrive. Two days later, the girl's body was found, and Molly's life fell apart. Consumed by guilt for not acting upon her visions, and on the brink of losing her family, Molly escaped the torturous reminders in the city, fleeing to the safety of the close-knit rural community of Boyds, Maryland.

Molly's life is back on track, her son has begun college, and she and her husband have finally rekindled their relationship. Their fresh start is shattered when a seven-year-old girl disappears from a local park near Molly's home. Unable to turn her back on another child and troubled by memories of the past, Molly sets out to find her, jeopardizing the marriage she'd fought so hard to hold together. While unearthing clues and struggling to decipher her visions, Molly discovers another side of Boyds, where the residents--and the land itself--hold potentially lethal secrets, and exposes another side of her husband, one that threatens to tear them apart.
