Beauty's Curse

Love on the High Seas

Ah, pirates. As a young girl, I always dreamed of the adventure of a life at sea. Author Tamara Hughes has brought that dream to life in her Love on the High Seas series. And let me say, this series has it all. Dashing pirates, beautiful damsels in distress (and sometimes causing the distress), and epic voyages fraught with danger, both natural and manmade. In a word, magical. Beauty’s Curse is the second in this series, and the danger and intrigue has never been higher. This enchanting tale picks up where the first one, Tempting the Pirate, left off. The settings in this novel are expertly drawn, and at times, I almost felt like I was walking on the same sandy beach. The characters are extremely realistic, and I did cheer out loud for Amelia and David as they strove to overcome each obstacle thrown at them. If it’s not obvious, I absolutely loved this novel, and am eagerly anticipating the next one in this fabulous series! This is another outstanding read for the spa, the beach, or any time at all.

Amelia Archer knows she’s trouble. She’s heard all about it nearly every day of her life. She’s cursed, and destined to bring death and destruction wherever she goes. On a voyage to the Colonies so she can live with her aunt, the ship carrying Amelia is set upon by pirates! Amelia knows it’s all her fault, but when pirate David Lamont sees her, he’s instantly beguiled. He knows that, no matter what, he must save her. And the adventure begins. As David tries to save Amelia from the pirates who believe in her curse, the two of them are set adrift. David must ensure Amelia knows she is not cursed. And when the past comes roaring back to interfere in their private wonderland, David knows he’ll do anything to save the woman who holds his heart.
